About the Event
All proceeds will benefit the TREAT therapeutic riding program at Tarleton Equine.
Dr. Jones is a faculty member at Tarleton State University in the Department of Animal Sciences; a position she has held since August 2013. She completed her undergraduate studies at Montana State University in Livestock Production and then her master’s at TAMU-College Station and her Ph.D. at Colorado State University. She is teaching primarily equine courses specializing in horse nutrition and exercise physiology. Her research interests are in performance horse nutrition and evaluating feed management practices. They have conducted three research projects utilizing slow hay feeders since 2019 and have incorporated the use of small hay nets and large hay nets in the management of university horses at Tarleton.
Dr. Jones is excited to share with the group relevant information about the use of hay nets, both the benefits and potential disadvantages of long-term use. She hopes the information will help inform everyone to make educated choices on if hay nets would be a good addition to their feeding practices.
